{"id":410,"date":"2020-04-03T15:11:44","date_gmt":"2020-04-03T15:11:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/harrowlawcentre.org.uk\/?page_id=410"},"modified":"2026-06-15T10:17:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T10:17:14","slug":"housing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/harrowlawcentre.org.uk\/?page_id=410","title":{"rendered":"Housing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Our housing team offers advice for tenants who are at risk of losing their home or those facing homelessness.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can provide advice in the following areas:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Possession and eviction&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Homelessness&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unlawful evictions&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Disrepair cases, where there is a serious risk of harm to the health and safety of the individual or member of the individual&#8217;s household&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of our housing work is funded by the Legal Aid Agency. We will assess whether you are financially eligible for legal aid and also whether your case is in scope for legal aid.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you require housing advice, please contact us by email or calling us on 0208 863 4355 and select option 1.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that we have limited capacity and therefore we may signpost you to other providers or organisations if we are unable to assist.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Renters&#8217; Rights Act<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>From 1 May 2026, the Renters\u2019 Rights Act 2025 gives tenants new rights and introduce new rules for private landlords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are a private renter you may wish to read this <a href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/media\/69bc04b8f7b1c24d8e23ce60\/The_Renters__Rights_Act_Information_Sheet_2026.pdf\">information sheet<\/a> provided by the Government which explains some of the ways private renting has changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also find information about the Renters&#8217; Rights Act on the <a href=\"https:\/\/england.shelter.org.uk\/housing_advice\/private_renting\/renters_rights_act_changes_for_private_renters\">Shelter <\/a>website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our housing team offers advice for tenants who are at risk of losing their home or those facing homelessness.&nbsp;&nbsp; We can provide advice in the following areas:&nbsp; Most of our housing work is funded by the Legal Aid Agency.
