In addition to our team of solicitors, Harrow Law Centre employs a Housing Campaigner and Community Organiser, Jackson Caines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jackson\u2019s work involves helping Harrow tenants living in poor-quality housing to fight for better conditions. He encourages tenants to take a collective approach to resolving their problems, working with their neighbours to put pressure on their landlord and\/or Harrow Council to take action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jackson has helped tenants from several private and social rented housing blocks to campaign for improved housing conditions. There are a number of ways he can assist tenants with campaigning efforts, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7 Helping tenants get organised via WhatsApp groups<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7 Facilitating tenant group meetings in person or online<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7 Creating social media accounts and online campaigns<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7 Working with public health and policy experts<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7 Contacting journalists who can amplify tenants\u2019 voices in local and national media<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7 Seeking the support of local politicians and the public<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to helping tenants fight to improve their own immediate conditions, Jackson encourages them to participate in broader campaigning to improve housing in Harrow, for example by pressuring the Council to strengthen its policies and take consistent action against landlords failing to comply with their legal obligations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He chairs a tenants\u2019 group, Harrow Healthy Homes, which meets on the first Thursday of the month at 6.00-7.30pm, in the downstairs meeting room of our office (The Lodge, 64 Pinner Road, HA1 4HZ). All Harrow renters (private and social), and those who stand in solidarity with them, are welcome at these meetings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
